Hyacinth vases are specially designed vases to hold a hyacinth bulb above water so its roots can grow down into the water and it can produce a flower without the need for a pot and soil.
I think they are magnificent. I can't get enough of that antique glass, often uneven and with imperfections but an exquisite shade of cobalt blue. They come in all colours though, not just cobalt blue and lots of variations in sizes and shapes but
these tall urn/churn shapes are my favourite
